These are said to be pics from the ruins of Aang’s ancestors, The Air Nomads. The Air Temple was burned down by the Fire Nation in their hostile takeover evasion of the rest of the world inhabitants.

Now for those Avatar fans you should already know what this set is going to be used for in the film, if not t I’m pretty sure it’s safe to say guess that this will be the Southern Water Tribe. In the tv series the Southern Water Tribe is home to Katara and Sokka, this is the location where they’re adventure begins. They find Aang and Oppa frozen in an huge block of ice….Greenland was decided on as the location to film this portion of the film, looking at the pic above I can see why.

Here’s what was reported on Greenland’s website Sermistsiak about this part of production:

Filming in the north-west Greenland village will take place from 23 March to 3 April, and the scenes will make up a total of six minutes in the final production, estimated to have a budget of $250 million

The Last Airbender is set to release in theaters July 2, 2010.

  1. Just wanted to point out that the Pagoda pics aren’t from Philly, they’re from Reading which is about 50 miles west of Philly in Berks County. Also, its not Penn Mountains as there are no Penn Mountains. The Pagoda sits atop Mt. Penn.

The scenes were shot just below the Pagoda. If you or your readers are interested there’s more info on the Pagoda here: http://www.pagodaskyline.org/pagoda/
