Push Review w/ Trailer

push_international_movie_poster

I just got finished watching Push…… Not what I was expecting. I mean I have a fatal attraction to movies so I’ll watch just about anyone, but this one is pushing it… The plot takes a while to develop and characters pop up all over the place. Honestly it reminded me of Jumper, some superhuman race is being hunted by some super secret agency. I found myself drifting in and out of conscientious during this movie. But all is not lost; the actors make the film actually worthwhile and bearable.

push-movie

Djimon Hounsou, Dakota Fanning, the always sexy Ming-Na, and Chris Evans all gave outstanding performances. It just goes to show that a good movie needs both a good plot as well as a good cast. Don’t get me wrong the film was decent but that’s it decent. So if you have nothing else to do with one of your evenings, why not watch it. It’d probably be a good waste of time. That being so i gotta give this one a 7.5/10. Below is a short summary provided by IMDB.

A group of young American ex-pats with telekinetic and clairvoyant abilities are hiding from a clandestine U.S. government agency. They must utilize their different talents and band together for a final job enabling them to escape the agency forever.

HANDS DOWN, Avatar is the best adventure movie I have every seen and very well most likely to be Best Picture of the year. Avatar is a majestic epic in its class; taking you on a journey deep into an alien world where mankind and alien throw down in an classic clash of Cowboys vs Indians; A visual  phenomenon with breath taking CG effects that captured a earthy final fantasy type world  full of life, strange creatures, exotic plants, and an intoxicating spectrum of color and movement to the slightest detail. No wonder I was glued to the edge of my seat for entire 2hr 4o min wishing the end would never come.

Starting of rather fast paced it gets straight to the point, with the main character Jake Sully  have embarked on the journey that would change his life. On course to the planet Pandora, the epic begins with Sully learning about his Avatar body that he will use to walk among the aliens population, it’s a experience that seems quite futuristic no doubt. The company he works for seek a precious rock the is found on the strange planet, worth unmeasurable amounts of wealth. But one of the aliens most sacred and spiritual places rests on top of the mineral deposit, causing an epidemic and war.  Forced with a decision the native alien species must decided if they will corporate with their foreign invaders or stand and fight, Bow and Arrows vs Machine Guns in an epic display of how savage invaders who’ve fallen corrupt to greed will destroy everything including the innocent to get what they want. Meanwhile Sully has to face himself, does he betray the company who hired him, his people, or will he watch the newly found love of his life and all that she loves burn to the ground over money. The question that will change the fate of two world collided.

Actors Sigourney Weaver and Sam Worthington gave Oscar winning performances having characters switch from human to his alien avatar, giving both outstanding acting and voice overs. Along side Director James Cameron and co-starring actors Zoe Saldana, Giovanni Ribisi, and Michelle Rodriguez helped bring everything to together with each having different characters but all sharing the same feeling as each emotional catastrophe  brings them closer together. Capturing the emotions between lovers, enemies and friends in the zealous  fight for whats right.

2009_avatar_001

Avatar was a miraculous fusion of acting, direction, and production assembled  in a rhythmic harmony that seem to memorize all in attendance, giving off a surrealistic vibe that allowed the audience to feel as if we were actually on Pandora. So for those who haven’t seen it, its defiantly worth a look and I’m sure all those who have will agree it’s well worth a second trip to the movies.

Wiz Reviewz: Up

Ever since I was a young child Pixar has made a lasting impression with each of their animated masterpieces, so its no surprise that UP exceeded the award winning standards that Pixar’s delivered film and film again.

This time around Pixar not only managed to take the audience on a ride full of emotion, humor and visual amazement, they did it in 3-D. Equip with a ticket stub and a pair of 3-D glasses both adult and child alike experienced the wonders of the South American terrain, the heartache in an old mans tale, the innocence of a child’s ambition, the predictable mind of a dog and the excitement of an epic adventure.

pixar-up

The adventure begins with the life of  Carl Fredricksen, a 78 year young man with a heart thriving full of adventure. Along with his childhood companion turned wife Ellie they devoted their life of happiness to finding their South American  promise land Paradise Falls. But soon the burdens of life began to bear down the two lovers with adventure pumping through their veins. The days grew shorter and time moved faster and before they knew it a life time had passed them by, old age set in and Carl was forced to live out his days alone with only the lasting memory of Ellie  and her unfilled scrap book dedicated to adventure, their colorful home and the need to pursuit ones childhood dream during their final years.

Carl’s adventure first begins in his later years, after being anchored by the burdens of life Carl is living the rest of his days in the slow lane unwilling to adjust to the fast pace of the common era. Faced with the difficult decision of giving into the new generations expectations or living the dreams they he once shared with the love of his life, Carl transforms his house into a air ship with its primary lift supplied by a colossal number of balloons and sets off to find Paradise Falls. Rendered with eye popping 3-D effects the home turned air ship drifted across the screen as the audience watched with amazement, hands down this was some of the best animation work that I’ve ever experienced.

up_still2

Anyway with his sails set and balloons filled Carl sails the skies overwhelmed with joy as he lives his dream. And as we all know life always seems to find a way to slow you down and in Carl’s case his road block came in the form of a young Wilderness Explorer scout named Russell. Accompanied by child thriving to reach his dream Carl reaches the South American  terrain. With only a few days of helium left in the balloons,  Carl and Russell come face to face with the deadly force of denounced adventurer Charles Muntz, Carl’s childhood hero, in search of the mystical creature that ruined his career. Determine to regain the welfare of his name Muntz and his well trained attack dogs search the South American jungle in search of the creature that finds the protection and love of a young child and the tough love of a bitter old man.

Now adults especially you parents,  you have to admit…Pixar looked out on this one. They made the movie just as entertaining for the adults in the audience, so those of you who only went to sent the movie because your child wouldn’t leave you alone about it this is the one time when you can’t complain. I’m 19 years old and I probably enjoyed it more than the kids did. The story of how the old man who lost the love of his life and grew cold hearted was taught how to care again by the innocence of a child kept the adults in the audience glued to the screen while the story of a young boy who goes on a great adventure and the humor of a dogs mind keep mixed with in with 3-D effects kept the kids entertained.

Overall UP was a excellent movie and honestly I couldn’t find any flaws. I only have good things to say about this movie, so for those of your out there who haven’t seen it….it’s definitely worth the price of admission.

Wiz Reviewz: Obsessed

This weekend I managed to check out Obsessed, the dramatic thriller starring Idris Elba, Beyonce Knowles and Ali Larter.

obsessed_poster

Off gate I just wanna say that Beyonce is mad sexy….Now that that’s out of the way, lets get to the movie. Honestly it’s wasn’t that bad, see I am by far in no way or fashion a fan of Beyonce’s acting but this time she did her thing. Maybe she feed off the energy Idris gave in his performance or maybe it was just the fact that she’s getting better but whatever the case maybe be she delivered a performance that’s actually worth while. Though she seemed kinda corney at times, like in the fight scene between character’s Sharon and Lisa. It just seems kinda hard to take Beyonce serious when shes fighting in 6 inch heels and looking better than a glass of  ice water on a hot day,

beyonce-obsessed

Now Idris Elba on the other hand should be ashamed of himself, the movie wasn’t that  bad. When word got out that Beyonce’s acting  might bring the end of his acting career(rumored) he listens, everyone knows when your in the biz you never ever EVER listen to the critics. And the messed up part is he did one hell of a job, looks like someone has some self confidence issues. But all shit talking aside, the movie wouldn’t of been the same without him…Just throwing this in there, it’s dope how his accent disappears when he’s filming….if you haven’t heard  it, he has a DEEP English accent.

Obsessed

I have to say, if Ali Larter got into my car with some sexy lingerie it would be a lie if I would say “Nothing Happened”…that is if i can get past the stalkerish image  she left in my head,..She played this role a little bit to well, hopefully she not like most other actors and got caught up in the role then 6 moths later we hear news saying she’s stalked her way into jail.

Ali Larter

Overall I’d say this movie was a up to time remake of Fatal Attraction, but it’s good for what it is. It’s definitely worth checking out.

Sincerely,

The Wiz

Wiz Reviewz: Role Models

Instant classic…..Hands down, Role Models has to be the funniest movies I’ve seen so far this year.

role_models_movie_poster

Where should I start?…First, McLovin killed it…I gotta hand it to him, the guys just funny. In the movie Christopher Mintz-Plasse plays a nerdy teen outcast by his peers because he is obsessed with the medieval world called  Lair, named Augie Farks. Picture McLovin, but less concerned with  his social life. Anyway, he walks around with a cape and a plastic sword…no wonder his guidance counselor placed him in the mentoring program and trust me his mentor doesn’t have a clue what he’s getting into. But he’s not the only over the edge mentee in the program, let me introduce the hell raising Ronnie Shields, the youngest child in the mentoring program but don’t let his size fool you he’s got the mouth of a sailor and the balls to back it up. Bobb’e J. Thompson really out did himself this time, I’m sure he had one hell of a time with all the cussing they let him do.

Danny Donachue, played by Paul Rudd, and Wheeler, played by Sean Wiliam Scott, get into legal trouble and have the choice of doing community service at Sturdy Wings mentoring program or spend 30 days in jail. It’s obvious which choice they pick but it wasn’t without great thought after meeting their new mentee’s referred to as “Littles”. As if having to deal with a teen dressed in midevil battle gear and a swearing toddler as you Littles, Sturdy Wing’s Program Director Gayle Sweeny, played by Jane Lynch. Similar to her work in The 40 Year Old Virgin, the uptight power crazy bitch in the management position. Just to give you a taste of her brilliance her a quote from the movie:

Me and the judge have a special relationship… I don’t wanna get too graphic but I sucked his dick for drugs.

Would I recommend you see this movie? Hell Yes..it’s definately worth it.

crank_2_high_voltage_movie_poster3

It was no suprise that I have to say going to see this movie was a waste of my time. If your no stranger to the disappointing and poorly done Crank, then you know what i’m talking about. The way they build us up, getting up excited with good ass previews then shoot all those months of hope right out the air, it’s down right sick. I’m a full time college student, I have time to waste like that. Every heard of opportunity cost. I have to make time for stuff like that and I don’t wanna spend it watch bullshit. And the worst part about it was that the actor actually did a good job, it was the production crew that messed every thing up. For instance, one fight scene Chev and his opponent  grow to monstrous sizes and reenact the classic Godzilla vs King Kong battle. Very very very very corny. Surprisingly enough I managed to find something good about this film, the acting was on point and they didn’t disappoint on the classic public sex scene.

Would I recommend seeing this film? Only if your bored and you have nothing better to do. Nothing at all, not homework, not chores, nothing. It’s not worth the opportunity cost, trust me.

Hands down Fast & Furious 4 is one of the best movies to release so far this year… It brings together all of the previous Fast and Furious films even the odd but decent third installment Fast & Furious: Toyko Drift…

fast_and_furious_ver3

First and foremost I must say that the cast did there thing, they all gave Oscar winning performances. Vin Diesel played the hell out of his part as Dominic Toretto.. But this time they really showed his dark side. He’s not the same Dominic from the first one, this time around..he’s P I S S E D…

fast-and-furious-4-poster

After a tragic loss, Dominic is out for blood but the man he’s after happens to be heroin importer…And not only is he a heroin importer but he’s one of the big boys in the eyes of the FBI and Agent Brian O’ Conner…. Yup O’ Conner is back and yet again on Johnny’s Laws side….Or is he?

Drifting away from The Fast & The Furious sequel curse, Fast &  Furious changed the style up a bit. This time they played more on the relationships between characters rather than the typical corny get the bad guy action plot…Trust me it makes for a better overall movie…That and a couple great car scenes…Director Justin Lin you’ve outdone yourself…Every action scene had me on the edge of my seat. One in particular damn near made me stand up out of my seat….I don’t mean to spoil the movie but this was some on this craziest shit that I’ve ever seen. I won’t say any names but one of the characters managed to jump out of his car into another guys car just as his car runs into a wall….You have to admit that’s some sick shit..

In between the crazy car races the sexy Jordana Brewster steals the attention and even gets behind the wheel….What a sight, Jordana Brewster grinding the gears….Definitely wouldn’t mind seeing it again.

Seeing that I  have only positive words towards this movie it’s obvious that I would recommend going to see this movie….Check out the trailer and decide for yourself.

The  Film Wiz

I just check out the new exclusive X-men Origins movie, and for those who haven’t scene it yet..It’s definitely worth a look…This adaptation of the X- men story is the best so far. All the mysteries are finally revealed in this one as director Gaven Hood takes us on a ride thought the haunting and troubling past of Wolverine, explaining everything from his solid antemium core to the origins of his name, and even his unexplainable memory loss. As if answering all the cliffhanging questions about Wolverine wasn’t enough, Hood managed to intertwine the past of Wolverine with that of other mutants such as Sabertooth, Gambit, Night Crawler, Deadpool, Beak, Blob, and even Cyclops.

In the movie, Wolverine is living life as regular as possible despite his mutant abnormalities. Along side his brother (Victor Creed) Wolverine  leaves the protection of his family and home to life a better life more suitable for people of their kind, a life of blood and killing. Wolverine and brother, both having similar mutant powers, place their slash marks through out history as they fought in countless wars, spilling blood  from  The Civil War to the second World War. But even war couldn’t keep the animals roaming inside them contained, eventually they were recruited by a special  military operation headed by William Stryker, that required the special abilities of certain mutants.

Warn out by all the killing and bloodshed Wolverine gives up his life of violence to live out his days in a more peaceful way. Unaware of his girlfriends telepathic ability, he was manipulated into participating in a program called Mutant X program. A program designed to genetically produce a  mutants with multiple strengths but none of the personality weaknesses, the perfect solider to combat the mutant infestation.

X-men Origins: Wolverine is the complete package have equally impressive acting and CG effects. Even the supporting actors played there role like they were trying to win oscars. The cast includes actors: Hugh Jackman , Will i Am, Ryan Reynolds, Liev Schreiber, Lynn Collins, Taylor Kitsch, Daniel Henny, Kevin Durand and more. Overall, this movie is hands down is one of the best so far this year.

X- men Origins is set to hit theaters May 1, 2009. Be sure to check it out.

OK. I’m  a fan of movies with several interconnecting plots such as Crash, when there done right. Some directors  try to do to much and it could end up being more confusing than anything.

I checked out Explicit Ills and I would definitely recommend seeing  this one. Written and directed of Mark Webber, Explicit Ills follows 4 interconnecting  relationships that revolve around drugs, love, and money in Philadelphia. Staring in the film is Seven Pounds supporting actress Rosario Dawson. Warning this movie is sad as hell, so if your already in a depressed mood I would advise waiting until your life is going a little better.lol.

Very good acting supported by 3 Academy awards this film is a must see. Here’s a short synopsis provided by Empire Movies:

explicit_illsThe film follows four inter-connecting stories revolving around love, drugs and poverty inPhiladelphia. Babo, an asthma ridden seven-year-old lives with his mother in the badlands of North Philly. His neighbor Demetri transforms himself into a well-read “smart” boy in order to get the girl. Michelle, a well-off art student is quick to fall into a drug induced love-affair with her dealer Jacob. Kaleef and Jill’s marriage is strained as they pursue their dreams of bringing “produce to the people” as their teenage son Heslin focuses on competing in the World’s Strongest Man competition. The lyrical and moving drama finds its core as all members come together in their fight for justice and self-discovery.

I just wanna say, I’m tired of seeing remakes of the Jason, Freddy, and Myers horror films. Everyone of the million remakes is nothing more than a exact replica of the the one before, no originality. So to Friday the 13th…I honesty don’t remember half of the movie, yea it was just that boring. I’m not even sure I made it through the movie. But i can tell you Jason fanatics that they stuck to the storyline. The actors did a good job serving their purpose but none gave a standout performance. Overall, this is a very bad horror film and deserves a 5 out of 10.
